5 Interesting facts about the cello

1.- The violoncello is a stringed instrument that is between the viola and the contrabass. It is played with a bow, and the instrument is supported on the floor and held between the legs of the cellist.

2.-  The word comes from the Italian term violoncello that is pronounced just like it means "violón del cielo".

3.- The parts of the cello are the same as those of the rest of the stringed instruments. In the lower part there is a piece of iron called pica, whose mission is to fix the instrument on the ground and regulate its height.

4.- It is the stringed instrument that has a greater resemblance to the human voice. Despite its size, it is one of the most versatile and expressive instruments.

 5.- The cello was developed from 1500, and lived for a while, with its ancestor, the viola da gamba, which gradually disappeared.
